good morning good morning everyone it is so good to see you I am so glad you're here today are you ready for 9 well let's get shot I'm going to give you one minute I'm going to give you one minute to get your little area ready like I'm not mine ready make sure that you have your pencils and your math journal your scratch paper whatever you need to get it done so give you a quick minute to do that all right good let's get started today our objective our objectives today is going to be place value today you will learn how to use strategies to add for two digit numbers okay you will learn to strategies so that you can add up to four cats for the column two digits okay by the end of the lesson you should be able to add four two digit numbers using a variety of strategies all right so let's get started let's go ahead and put this back on a little boy I'm bored so we can stay organized but you going to have to set you up a nice little comfortable area so that you don't have to keep getting up and running back and forth cuz you might miss something all right so let's get star on my poster board I have my first method is going to be the break apart method so we're going to take four digits and I hope that you can see that put them in the column and I'm going to break those numbers apart make it easier to ask some of you I know I'm struggling with Matt and so I'll be giving you strategies as we move along I'm through the school year will be easier for you when I was I also struggle with math so let's go ahead and get these strategies so that we can move on to bigger and better things okay everybody ready numbers 21 so I'm going to take that I'm going to break it apart I'm going to have 20 + 1 I'm going to do the same thing so you guys follow me you can ride if you want to or you can just watch her that you know what to do when you're by yourself we're going to take 32 we're going to separate it from the two we're going to take 17 we don't have anything to separate there so I'm going to put a zero don't put out zero there then you have we're going to put 40 okay good so let's add the ones column that's had those numbers. 567 we had ate someone put that number here cuz that's out one's column let's take a look at this, how much is 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 0 now let's add the tens column we're in the tens column now two plus three good job 5 + 7 12 + 416 now we're going to bring that number over here 160 160 + 8 so let's come back over here cuz it looks like I'm going to be a hundred and sixty-eight come back over here I Got 5 6 7 8 I said I was trans, we have 2 + 3 that's 5 + 7 five six seven eight nine 10 11 is 11 is 12 + 4 is 16 this is a good way to check yourself cuz we all want to make a hundred so we have a hundred and sixty-eight here's the answer we have a hundred and sixty-eight here so does that mean we're yes it does. Yourself on the back we got it all right let's go ahead and move on our next strategy strategy number 2 drawer it so we're going to drawer it okay whatever it takes but I don't want you guys trying to make 21 circles that takes too much time and then if you're not counting right you going to have the wrong answer so let's go ahead and take a look I have 21 if you look down here I made a table sort of a table my big square is 10 is worth 10 my small square is going to be one okay so we have a column and we have a chance, so we have twenty one up here what do we need to do what is it that we need to do good job we're going to put you big block God you guys are so smart this morning 3 blocks play Roblox that's the same as 21 okay now we need three tens blocks three and then we're going to have to one's box there imma show you how easy this is if you're struggling with Matt okay and now we have 70 so we need 7010 7010 call Miss Kim was trying to trick you know we just need seven cuz each one is worth ten and 7 * 10 one two three four five FedEx Staffing now I last number is 45 so we're going to have for 10 blocks don't worry about being so just make sure you know the difference between your big boxes that you can small but it doesn't matter you can use a big circle with a little circle weaning 5 1 blocks okay everybody that's an excellent okay now let's go I don't like 10 do you guys want to come by 10 Okemos kids going to help you let you do it 10 20 30 40 50 60 70 80 90 100 110 120 138th and 4150 160 that looks familiar right okay so we got a hundred and sixty make sure you put a plus sign okay now let's count the small boxes the small boxes are your one column or their equivalent to one alright let's count them one two three 4 5 6 7 8 + 8 168 do we have a right answer when do let's do a virtual high five okay what I would like for you to do now I've added some Breakout you're going to see a number flash on your screen you go to that it's going to ask you yes or no join the group you're going to join the group and in your break out room there's a this worksheet that has some numbers on it and I want you and your two partners I think there should be three people in each group I want you to go ahead and work and I will show up in each one of your rooms to see how it and hopefully we can get through it so that tomorrow we can move on to something different okay if you have any questions for me make sure you're typing them in the text or hold off and when we come back as a class we will we will answer those questions you can ask questions I'll turn the the audio on and you'll be able to talk to me and I'll be able to help you out and if that doesn't work after we shut down can you guys go on to imagine math to get that work done I will conference with the people that need help okay sounds good alright see you in a minute all right go to your room I'll see you in a minute oh my god did anybody have any questions how did it go show me some of those answers all your broke up good job good job okay so what what do we do today can anybody tell me what can we do today what you learn very good for homework tonight I want you to write just one or two sentences what you learned in math today okay and when we log on for math I want you to show me what you wrote okay I'll give you extra credit for that so let's go over what we learned again I want everybody to read out loud for me hey I learned place value today I will learn how to use strategies to add two digit numbers and at the end of the lesson you better say I will be able to add up to four two digit numbers using a variety of strategies I am so proud of you guys we had a good little math lesson when you log off from here I want you to go to imagine math I will meet you there I'll be able to help you out make sure everyone that you go where you supposed to go and do what you're supposed to do all right I'll see you over at imagine math
